BHC Pic of the Week Nr. 254

This photo was taken at the Interchange Leipzig-South where the Motorways 38 and 72 meet. The double-barrel bowstring Whipple arch bridge was built in 2015, as part of the plan to convert the previous highway B95 into the motorway and complete the 220-kilometer long Motorway that connects Leipzig with Hof (Bavaria) via Chemnitz and Zwickau. There are still 10 kilometers of two-lane road left, located south of Leipzig. Nevertheless, it’s expected that the Motorway 72 is finished by 2026 at the very latest.

The bridge has a unique design and shape, but also its color. Yet when this was taken, the weather was a mix of sun, clouds and rain- a perfect combination for this one in a blue moon picture. 🙂
