BHC Pic of the Week Nr. 148: Tribute to James Baughn

It’s that time of year. It’s summer time and with that, not only the time to travel but also the time for travel woes as we embark on the highway to our favorite travel destinations. And with that, construction and traffic jams. We have a cool saying in Minnesota, where I originate:

There are five seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall and road construction.

.

And this is where the pic taken by James Baughn comes to mind. It’s that of Interstate Highway 40 and with that, three modern-day concrete bridges; the most modern is on the far left and carries a frontage road. This frontage road replaced a unique historic bridge.

Any ideas what bridge that may be? Feel free to answer. 😉

.

By the way: In Germany, we also have a cool saying for our seasons:

We have five seasons: Christmas markets, soccer, gardening, traffic jams and overcrowded beaches. 😉

.

The last two go together like bread and butter for whenever there is a holiday, we storm the beaches. Hence our stereotype similar to our travel season in the States:

And with that, not only do merchants take advantage of the overcrowded tourists….

And with that, we wish you strong nerves and patience, but also a great time as you start your summer season going, no matter where you are going. Stay safe, test negative, think positive and if possible, get the shot against Covid-19.

.

Happy trails, folks! 🙂
