There are three ways of expressing the concept of no smoking on a wooden bridge. There’s the generic version: No Smoking. There’s the Papa Preacher version: Don’t even think of Smoking Here. Then there’s this version, as exhibited in a note found by the person running the Green Mountain Bridges Instagram page, shown above. I don’t know whether to laugh like Garfield the fat cat or behave like an Irish woman armed with a cast iron skillet, ready to smack one. 😀
For sure this was found on the Dummerston Covered Bridge, an almost 150-year old covered bridge located in Windham County, Vermont. I don’t know if this note is in connection with the name Dummerston or even the word, which spelled backwards is mud. 😉 In either case, here are some facts on one of Vermont’s longest covered bridges which you access in this link.
Enjoy the rest of the day and happy bridgehunting! 🙂
