Pioneer Bridge on Blue Mountain Lake, Adirondacks

The 147th Mystery Bridge with this question: who built this structure and how would you describe its bridge design?

Blue Mountain Lake is truly one of the “Gems of the Adirondacks”.  What an amazing lake to view especially from the Adirondack Museum with all its beautiful little islands throughout it.

Here we are out on the lake on a tour and we came across the Pioneer Bridge which was built in memory of Dr Thomas Clark Durant.  He was the general manager of the 1st transcontinental railway, the Union Pacific and president and builder of the Adirondack Railway.  The bridge was erected by his son, William West Durant in 1891.
